Tell the Truth

"It's easier to tell people what they want to hear than to speak your truth. But you'll feel so much better about yourself when you are honest. Today, have the courage to speak your truth. The harder it is, the better you'll feel afterwards."

TAKE ACTION

Women's Rights are Non-Negotiable in Afghanistan - Act w/ Amnesty International

I am a PROUD WOMAN

This day, March 8th, in 2009, I, along with two other amazing ladies, (each representing different parts of the world, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and West Africa [me]), participated in Sophia Abele's Dialogues titled "Women's Rights is it Global".

We each focused our research and presentation in different aspect's of Women's Rights. The ladies, did, each, in "Woman during wars" & "Women & Sex Trafficking".
I did my research on Women's Education in Pakistan, and presented my work to a crowed of 100+, including the President of Westchester Community College, Dr. Joseph Hankin.

I am very proud to have participated in such event, and wish to participate in many more to come. I've met great women during my lifetime, including the ladies of both sides of my family, my mother and mentor, and all my lovely girlie girls.

I believe in all woman, and in our potentials to be great leaders of this world.
I believe in the education of all girls, and in their potentials to lead by example.
I believe in the greatness of all females, and in the respect we give and is given to us by each other and by all men.

I urge you, dear reader, to look into your life, see if there is any woman you love and appreciate? If so, please tell her she is isn't alone, you are there to support her through every thing she experiences in this world.

You could be a woman from the mountain ranges of Afghanistan,
or from an ethnic group in Zimbabwe,
or perhaps a Cuzco woman from Peru.

You could be a woman from the Pacific,
Or maybe the Atlantic oceans.

You could be from any nationality or region in the world,
but our characteristic of being a woman, will always
be the same.

Pearls by Sade

There is a woman in Somalia
Scraping for pearls on the roadside
There is a force stronger than nature
Keeps her will alive

This is how she's dying
She's dying to survive
Don't know what she's made of
I would like to be that brave

She cries to the heaven above
There is a stone in my heart
She lives a life she didn't choose
And it hurts like brand-new shoes

Hurts like brand-new shoes

There is a woman in Somalia
The sun gives her no mercy
The same sky we lay under
Burns her to the bone

Long as afternoon shadows
It's gonna take her to get home
Each grain carefully wrapped up
Pearls for her little girl

Hallelujah
Hallelujah

She cries to the heaven above
There is a stone in my heart
She lives a life she didn't choose
And it hurts like brand-new shoes
Hurts like brand-new shoes

Note: One of my favorite songs in this whole wide world, it makes me cry, every time; by one of my favorite singers of all times.

International Women's Day

Today I woke up so happy, and thank God it's the International Women's Day.
So I sent my lovely ladies an email/text both in English and in Criol, expressing how I feel about this day, today and always.I'd like to share my words.

Congratulations.

Today, once again and how it should be everyday,
we are recognized in this day, March 8th.

Today more than ever,
I want you to always believe in reaching your dreams
and to believe in the positive power of your mind.

Today, way more than yesterday,
and less than tomorrow,
I want you to know that you can do
and be everything you want.
All you have to say is 'YES! I CAN.'

I could go on and on [...] with references to our day, today, but I wont.

As a woman, I'd like to express that self esteem, self knowing, self respect and all those other
SELFness are always NUMBER ONE along with SELF LOVE.

Happy International Women's Day

A Message to My Twin

We were born on the same year,
On the same day,
of a different month,
to different parents.

We were born in the same country,
Brought up with the same traditions,
in different islands,
to different families.

We are so close,
yet so far.
We lived in the same country,
but in different cities.
We met twenty-one years later,
through a mutual friend,
Who did the best thing in this world,
and isn't even aware of it.

We said 'hi' to each other like perfect strangers do,
but our friendship grew stronger and deeper by day.

As we began to talk,
We learned that were doing the same major,
had similar goals, and dreams,
but all with different paths to make.

Since day one, we've kept in touch,
we've shared many human experiences together.
We know each other's deepest secrets,
and desires.

Traveling the world,
Meeting new people.
Experiencing new cultures.

Fearing love,
Respecting others,
Enjoying new things.

These and many more that happened in the past,
which is happening now,
and with no doubts will happen in the future,
are things we are experiencing each day of our lives.

You are short,
I am tall.
You are skinny,
I am heavier.
You are lighter,
I am darker.
But these are differences that makes us the same.

Our closeness is unique,
something not shared with many.

We have a unique position in
sharing perspectives on life.

We experience the need for space,
yet we are always unseparable.

We say to be humans,
we say to be women,
we say to be friends,
we say to be lovers,
we say to be sisters,
but above all,
we say to be twins.

(You know who you are. Thank you for all these amazing human experiences. Thanks to our mutual friend, our "minino", may God be always with us. [Can I get an Amen!]
-Amen)

Please don't take my Sunshine away."

PS: This was the first song I ever taught my little cousin and godson, Christopher. Six years later, and this song, remains one of his favorites.

summer4everandalways: aloha havnt had a gif on my blog for a while

debo entregar y abrir nuevas ventanas,
establecer la claridad invicta
y aunque no me comprendan, continuar

llegar temprano y correr a otra parte

Consciousness is K I N G.

Consciousness

"In any relationship, whether it's a relationship with a mate or with a child, the most important aspect of our being is consciousness. That is what separates 'what is' from 'what will be.' For example, if you're holding back from fully loving the person, chances are they will mirror that energy back to you. On the other hand, if you are opening your heart and trusting, it is likely that the other person will be equally open. As kabbalists so often stress: consciousness is king. What we think is what we bring to ourselves."

The Winner Stands Alone

"The Winner Stands Alone", is a new novel by the international best selling author, and my favorite, Paulo Coelho. For years, I've been reading Paulo Coelho's works of literature. I read his blog, daily; and I've decided to collect ALL of his books, ever written. Just the other day, I was making a list of all of his works, and I put a check mark next to the ones I read/own.
My first book by him, was "Veronika Decides To Die", it was the Portuguese edition. I let someone borrow it, and never got it back. So now I want to buy it again, this time in English; however I do not plan to lend it to anyone. Another interesting fact about how much I love Paulo Coelho's novels, is that I give his books as gifts to my friends, on special occasions, especially if it's their birthday. So far I've given "The Alchemist", "Brida" and "By The River Piedra I Set and Wept", these three are among my favorites. Everyone, is not most people, have heard of at least, "The Alchimist". It is a great book, and I recommend it to people of all ages, especially mature readers. Since, there are some complex definitions and aspects, which only a mature person would be able to understand and put it in perspective.
As for "The Winner Stands Alone", I picked it up at Barnes and Noble about a month ago, and started to read it (I didn't buy it, YET; but I will as soon as I'm done reading "The Witch of Portobello"), the story is a well done description of the harsh, and sometimes misunderstood realities of Hollywood, and all the fame that comes with money, power and the obsession of winning. The little I read, gave me the understanding and it reminded me, that personal power and dreams, can sometimes be envied by others, especially by (believe it or not) friends. And even the fact that we are always trying to succeed and be the winner at all things, can cause great harm to our well being, because if it happens that we lose one time, we will fight ourselves, and condemn ourselves for a very long time. As singer Jill Scott, best said, "everything ain't for everybody". The same applies for winning, no one can win at everything, always; and there come times, when the winner is in fact, standing alone.

Are You Real?

"Do you out all your cards on the table, or do you hide behind a smiling mask, a fake version of yourself? To a certain extent, we all do it, keeping our true selves from getting hurt or feeling pain, as well as receiving the true fulfillment that the Light force wants for us. Our work now is to destroy that fake self. We do that by being vulnerable and willing to let people see our insecurities. It takes a strong person to be weak. Open your heart today. Take a risk and speak your mind, even if it will cause you embarrassment. Especially if it will. "

My feelings are hurt easily.
I can be emotional and cry buckets.
I trust those I shouldn't.
I love will all my heart...
even when it's broken.
But everyday I'm learning

People's Positive Points

"You invite judgment into your life every time you judge others. To avoid this invitation to negativity, it's best to stop focusing on other's darkness. Instead, pay attention to their strengths. Today, look only for people's positive points, and in doing so you will invite major blessings into your life."
